Working principles

The following 9 working principles form the Novum Innovation Method:

  1. Innovate a process, product or service in a significant way.
  2. The solution is not fixed at the beginning of the innovation process.
  3. The final solution creates value for the citizens and/or organization.
  4. During implementation, the devised solution is developed (sometimes from an existing prototype) or purchased.
  5. The Novum Innovation Method is a structured innovation process to validate assumptions and limit uncertainties.
  6. Assumptions and uncertainties mainly focus on the desirability, feasibility and impact of the solution.
  7. Assumptions and uncertainties are investigated through experiments.
  8. Each step looks at customer groups, problems, context, solutions and/or channels.
  9. Success also means that an idea doesn't work. Then it becomes clear in time that an idea is not feasible, desirable or impactful enough.
